Aston Martin One-77 wins prestigious award

I first spied a very minimal prototype of the Aston One-77 in the coverage of the Geneva Motor Show. Now, the designers at Aston Martin have taken a big leap and revealed a production-ready One-77 to a crowd of drooling onlookers at the Concorso d’Eleganza held on Lake Como. In it’s first public appearance, the One-77 took out the top design award in the show- which quite an achievement given the radical nature of the car.

Aethetically, the car is considerably edgier than previous Aston Martins with large ducts in the front bumper/headlight assembly being one of the defining features. From a distance, the car looks fairly similar to previous models, but when viewed up close one can tell that the One-77 was an opportunity for the designers to try and create a new image for the Aston Martin lineup. The large vents in the doors and hood speak of a true sportscar, while the gigantic diffuser seamlessly integrated in to the rear bumper is suggestive of the brands racing pedigree.

Honestly, while the car has recieved mixed reviews from critics- I truly love it. I think the whole rear section just sets the entire car off and creates an entirely new image for the Aston Martin brand.
